Engineer. Problem-Solver. Candidate for Anchorage Assembly 

Donald Handeland is a licensed Professional Civil Engineer with over a decade of experience improving transportation systems, utilities, and public infrastructure across Alaska. From rural communities to urban neighborhoods, his work helps make daily life safer, more efficient, and more resilient for Alaskans. 

Donald is also a small business owner and understands the obstacles that many Alaskan small businesses face.

Now, Donald is stepping up to serve his neighbors in a new way: as a candidate for the Anchorage Assembly representing the Eagle River, Chugiak, and JBER. With a deep understanding of infrastructure and a passion for public service, he is ready to bring practical, thoughtful leadership to city government. 

A Career Focused on Building Alaska 

Donald has built a career solving complex infrastructure challenges by designing safer roads, enhancing emergency response access, managing drainage and stormwater, and supporting the development of schools, clinics, housing, and public facilities. 

As a licensed civil engineer, his expertise includes: 

  • Community and rural transportation planning 

  • Urban street and pedestrian access improvements 

  • Utility and site development 

  • Environmental permitting and inspections 

  • Public infrastructure design and evaluation 

With every project, Donald brings a collaborative approach and a commitment to delivering high-quality results that reflect the needs of local residents.
